What Is Cybersecurity Awareness Month?
Cybersecurity Awareness Month is observed every October and brings together public and private sector organizations across the globe to promote online safety. The 2025 theme, “Stay Safe Online,” focuses on practical, accessible habits that can significantly reduce cyber threats, especially for small and midsize businesses.
Our Focus: The Core 4 Cybersecurity Habits
AdRem is using this month to reinforce the Core 4 cybersecurity practices; simple but powerful steps that every business can implement immediately:
- Use strong passwords and a password manager
- Enable multifactor authentication (MFA)
- Keep software and systems updated
- Recognize and report phishing and scams
“Cybersecurity is not just a technical issue. It’s a business-critical responsibility that affects every layer of an organization,” said Patrick Birt, Owner and CEO at AdRem Systems Corporation. “We believe that by helping businesses implement these foundational practices, we’re not only reducing risk, but creating long-term resilience.”
Throughout October, we’re providing in-depth guidance, educational resources, and practical checklists to help business leaders take the Core 4 from concept to implementation.

A Timely Risk: Windows 10 End-of-Life Approaches
In addition to the Core 4, we are highlighting a critical, time-sensitive cybersecurity concern: Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025.
After this date, Windows 10 machines will no longer receive security updates or patches. That means vulnerabilities will go unaddressed, leaving systems exposed to ransomware, phishing attacks, and compliance violations.
As part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we are:
- Auditing client systems to identify Windows 10 dependencies
- Assisting with budget-conscious Windows 11 migration plans
- Reviewing patch management strategies and device lifecycle policies
- Offering briefings on available licensing and support options
For businesses, proactive planning now avoids both security gaps and operational disruptions later.
